News: You're blowing us away!

Some of the work we're getting really just blows my mind. We can't thank you enough (but we'll try, with pay, and showcasing your work in the best possible way) for the works you're sending in. We've received over a hundred submissions in just a week, and expect them to keep pouring in.
And a big round of applause for Mike, running PR. We've got people coming from so many writers boards I'd never heard of (some of which won't even let me join!), with the majority coming from Ralan's, DuoTrope, and a thread on Absolute Write. It's great knowing there are so many resources out there for writers and artists! Though I'm wondering, does anyone know when Quintamid or Spicy Green Iguana next intend to update?
Really, we've already got our eyes on some amazing stuff, and I'm excited about how much room we've got in issue zero to show it off. We hope you'll agree.

Thanks. :) We'll be reading and discussing it soon, no doubt.

A hundred submissions in a week? Wow! So much for getting my sub in on the ground floor...
I hope GUD is everything you want it to be.

So far it's shaping up beautifully. Coming up on three weeks and we've rejected nearly 300. Still, there are amazing gems that blow us away still coming in, still finding potential room in Issue 0. Don't lose heart :)

Hi. I'm just wondering how long it takes editors to reject/ accept a submission, on average? Many thanks - James.

This is going to be part of an upcoming post, but for "realtime" "independant" stats, you can check duotrope -- duotrope.com/…_1230.aspx
Our internal stats say our median rejection time is 54 hours. That's based on 285 rejections to date. We currently have not accepted anything, but 46 items are sitting long-listed. We're probably going to start accepting things this weekend--just haven't programmed the process for that, yet (nor the process to decline items that have been long-listed).
It's looking like "long-listed" may well be "short-listed", so that terminology may change soon, unless we do find a need for another stage somewhere.
Since we've got a 6 month production cycle, you can expect long-listings and acceptances to take a while longer than rejections.
