News: Issue 4 is (just about) off to the printer

GUD Issue 4 cover (main)

And it's already available as a PDF, for your immediate gratification! Visit our order page to get an instant PDF or pre-order the sleek printed version, or browse the teasers page to get a flavor first.

It's been a long process, but the pieces have fallen into place at last, and we're really excited about the finished result -- a pile of treasures in readable form! In Issue 4, you'll find words and images in many genres -- stories set in every time and place you can think of, from Southern U.S. suburbia in the nineteen-eighties in "Flip Lady" to an unknown planet far in the future in "Maya's World"; poems that run the gamut from stubbornly realistic to head-spinningly surreal; artwork that shows you the real world in a different light; and an essay about what Kafka (still) has to do with it anyway.

It's taken more than a year to put this issue together, and sometimes it seemed like we were acting out an example of Murphy's Law from some small-publisher textbook, but we persevered -- because we love this stuff, and we want to share it with you! Now we've nearly got it off to the printer, and the PDF is ready for sale; the first review has been posted (at Dogmatika); we're planning out shipping, sales, publicity...and, of course, moving right along with Issue 5 (due out in the fall) and Issue 6 (next spring). Beautiful, intelligent words and art, presented elegantly and conveniently every six months, more or less.

Free samples: If you have an account on the GUD website, just log in and you'll see there's a free PDF of one piece from Issue 4 all ready and waiting there for you to enjoy. (Miniature paper cup not included.) If you don't have an account, this would be a great time to open one! (It's painless, we promise, and you'll get the freebie right off.)
